| SHANGHAI, April 8 -- The U.S. destroyer Lassen arrived on Tuesday in Shanghai for a four day port call.
Captain Wang Liping, deputy chief of staff of the Chinese Navy's Shanghai base, welcomed the ship at the port.
Tony Simmons, the commanding officer of Lassen, and other U.S. officers paid a visit to Rear Admiral Liao Shining, commanding officer of the Shanghai base, on Tuesday afternoon.

The ship's crew of 382 was scheduled to visit the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center, Oriental Pearl TV Tower and other attractions during their stay.
A basketball game is also being held between Chinese marines and the Lassen crew.
