Grammy Award winning conductor John Nelson is currently the Music Director of the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris. He regularly conducts the world's top orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, the symphony orchestras of Boston, Chicago and Cleveland, as well as the National Philharmonic Orchestra London , the Dresden Staatskapelle, the Leipzig Gewandhaus and the Orchestre de Paris. He appears at the Metropolitan Opera, Chicago Lyric, Santa Fe, Rome and Paris Opera houses and in 2008/9 season will conduct Damnation of Faust and Der Freischutz at the Geneva Grand Theatre as well as Les Troyens at the Stuttgart Opera. Renowned for his interpretations of the great choral works, Mr. Nelson is scheduled to conduct and record DVDs of Beethoven's Missa Solemnis and Haydn's Creation with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe in 2010 and 2011. His many recordings can be found on the Deutsche Grammophon, Virgin Classics, Sony, Nonesuch/Electra and EMI labels. This is Maestro Nelson's fifth visit to China. He returns with a deep sense of privilege and delight.
